Legislature lowers alcohol limit to .08
On August 1, 2005 the State of Minnesota joined the rest of the country in lowering the permissible alcohol content in drivers from .10 alcohol concentration to .08.
As a direct result of the passage of this important change to our statute, many motorists who drive on public roadways will escape serious bodily injury and death. While it would be foolish to assume that that passage of any new law would immediately stop people from committing offenses, it is important to realize the opportunity the new passage provides in combating one of the nation's leading killers of men and women; driving while intoxicated (DWI).
