History of St. Paul Park
The City of St. Paul Park was founded on the banks of the Mississippi in 1887; incorporated in 1909. In 1974, St. Paul Park became a city by state statute. Today, St. Paul Park is a friendly community of approximately 5,550 welcoming residents. It is a community rich in parks and proud of its heritage and linkage to the Mississippi River. St. Paul Park is conveniently located by freeway to downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul, and only 15 minutes east of the Mall of America. The City of St. Paul Park has great admiration and utmost gratitude for all the men and women who have selflessly served their country and this community in the Armed Forces by proclaiming the City as a Purple Heart City on October 7, 2019. Also, the City of St. Paul Park has partnered with the City of Cottage Grove, a Yellow Ribbon Community, to help provide community support, training, services and resources for our Service Members, Veterans, and their families. Each year the city remembers its great heritage with a celebration in August, which brings in over 10,000 visitors to share in that pride. Overview:
