Life without plastic

The discussion about banning plastic straws and the effect on the environment prompted many families to take a second look at  "single-use" plastics and how to rid them.  Here are a few suggestions to get your family started on plastic-free, zero-waste living.

Single-use Plastics commonly used:

  • Milk jugs
  • toothbrushes
  • deodorant
  • cleansers
  • moisturizers
  • hand soap
  • Laundry Soap bottles/jugs
  • cling wrap

Make the switch to:

  • Glass jars and reusable containers
  • Reusable water bottles
  • Reusable coffee cups
  • Biodegradable brushes
  • Solid soaps
  • Say NO to disposable cutlery
  • Buy in bulk using jars, canvass bags, or paper bags
  • Consider homemade products
  • Consider items in cardboard boxes
  • Use beeswax wrap to cover your food
